Abstract:

The frame survey was a census of the settlements and fishers of the upper Zambezi River, carried out between September and November 2002. The three main goals of the survey were (1) to collect baseline data on the inhabitants of the area and their use of fisheries' resources; (2) to enhance partnership between Namibian and Zambian government fisheries' staff; and (3) to explore the feasibility of closed seasons as a management measure and to determine the general perception of present and future fisheries' management.
