Abstract:

Bluestate Investments (Pty) Ltd (the proponent) proposes to undertake exploration activities on Exclusive Prospecting License (EPL) 8450 for Base & Rare metals, Dimension Stone, Industrial Minerals, Nuclear Fuels, Non-Nuclear Fuels, Precious Metals and precious stones. The EPL covers farms Goeie Geluk 121, Twyfel 85, Vrede 119, Elim 85, Libertas 68 and Graniet 67 and is located 49 km SE of Uis in Daures Constituency, Erongo region, Namibia. The proposed exploration activities include desktop studies, geophysical surveys, geochemical survey, geological mapping, trenching, drilling and geochemical sampling as well as laboratory analysis aimed discovering mineral resources of economic interest. The proposed exploration activities are relatively less invasive as the biodivest impacts will be restricted to site routes and drilling sites. Existing routes will be used and new routes will only be an option where these are not available and will be done in consultation with land surface owner. The proposed exploration and mining activities falls under the activities that are listed in the Environmental Management Act, 2007 (Act No. 7 of 2007) and Environmental Regulations procedure (GN 30 of 2012). As such, an environmental clearance certificate must be applied for in accordance with regulation 6 of the 2012 environmental regulations.
