Title:

221101000238: Onshore salt mining EPL 8757, 36 km north west of Henties Bay, Erongo Region, Namibia

Publication Year:
2022
Abstract:

The proponent intends to run a salt mining business around 36 kilometers north of Henties Bay. Before the Minister of Mines and Energy can finalize the granting of the mining license, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism must provide compliance certification in the form of an Environmental Clearance. In light of this, the proponent hired Erongo Consulting Group to complete this Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management Plan for this operation, as well as apply for an Environmental Clearance with the Environmental Commissioner's Office at the Ministry of Environment and Tourism. As salt manufacturing and mining processes evolve, the industry refines and enhances its environmental performance to benefit the working environment, local communities, and the environment in general. As a result, the proposed development cannot proceed without an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC), as required by the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its Regulations.
