Abstract:

Renewal of the Environmental Clearance certificate for the operation and maintenance of an existing 132kv Otjikoto - Copper Transmission line and Copper Substation . In 2012 NamPower received an Environmental Clearance Certificate for the for the proposed 132 kV transmission line linking the Otjikoto substation with Namibia Custom Smelter's proposed Copper substation, 2km north east of Tsumeb, in Oshikoto Region. The ECC has since expired. This renewal is further aimed at including the Copper Substation which was not included previously but it is a crucial associated infrastructure to this line. It is therefore against this background that NamPower intends to apply for the renewal of the Environmental Clearance Certificate in order to comply to the Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
