CONTACTAPP-003583: The application of the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the operation and maintenance of the existing 220KV Walmund-Kuiseb and 132 Kuiseb-Walvis Bay 1 and 2 transmission lines including Kuiseb and Walmund Substations
The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of an existing 220kv Walmund - Kuiseb and 132 Kuiseb - Walvis bay 1 and 2 transmission lines including Kuiseb and Walmund substations. In December 20212, NamPower obtained an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the construction and operation of the following: Two new 132kV transmission lines from the Walvis Bay substation An additional 220kV transmission line between Kuiseb substation to the Walmund substation. The lines were constructed in order to strengthening the West Coast network to provide for future load growth. The lines were successfully constructed and are currently in operation. However, the ECC has expired and need to be renewed in order to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act No. 7 of 2007) and its regulations.
