A CSIR Perspective on Water in South Africa
The strategic and shared nature of water is pervasive throughout southern Africa. South Africa shares six river basins and at least seven aquifer systems with six neighbouring countries. Rivers form the international borders between South Africa and Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, while Swaziland and Mozambique are situated downstream of South Africa.
