Abstract:

The Municipality of Walvis Bay (hereinafter referred to as MWB, Municipality or the Proponent) through the Section: Parks and Cemeteries has the responsibility to plan and manage the establishment and maintenance of sufficient grave spaces within the town of Walvis Bay. Currently, the town of Walvis Bay is served with four cemeteries of which three are still operational and operated by the Municipality. These cemeteries are strategically located to serve different suburbs; Kuisebmond, Narraville and Walvis Bay (town). The burial spaces in the Narraville cemetery is diminishing, hence, a new cemetery ground is required (Terms of Reference (TOR), 2018). The new Narraville cemetery is proposed to be established on Erf 4044 of Narraville Extension 8 and cater for the town for the next 20 to 50 years. The approximate surface area covered by the proposed cemetery site is 31 114 m2 (3.1 ha).
