Abstract:

PowerCom (Pty) Ltd (PowerCom hereafter) proposes to erect a telecommunication tower on Erf 1824, Matutura in Swakopmund which aim to strengthen the coverage for mobile services, inclusive of voice and data services within the subject area. Site Location: Network coverage predictions were used to determine the black holes in wireless and fixed-wireless services which drove the selection of the proposed site. This site will be used to improve coverage for mobile services, which include voice and data services. The proposed site location is detailed in the table below. Location: Swakopmund GPS Coordinates: 22º 40' 0.01'' S, 14º 31' 39.75''E Local Authority: Swakopmund Municipality Region: Erongo Region The proposed site is located within an existing urban area within the boundaries of Swakopmund town. Site Design: The proposed development will include the construction of a 25-meter-high network tower that will be camouflaged as a tree. Infrastructure and Services: The subject erf on which the tower is proposed to be erected is connected to the municipal reticulation network. Electricity required for the establishment and operational stages of the tower to be supplied by ErongoRed. Access to the site can be obtained from the internal street network of Swakopmund. Resources and Working team: Construction workers will be required for the following: excavation of the foundation; steel fixers for the fixing of reinforced steel; casting of concrete for both tower and equipment room; riggers for the erection of the tower. Materials for construction will be stored on site during the construction period. The workforce will not reside on site.
