Title:

APP-001500: Encroacher Bush Biomass Project in Namibia - Otjikoto Biomass Power Station

Publication Year:
2020
Abstract:

Encroacher Bush Biomass Power Project: Construction and operation of the 40 MWe Otjikoto Biomass Power Station, near Tsumeb, which includes the transmission substation and transmission lines. Please note: The Scoping phase of the EIA has been completed. The Scoping Report was accepted by MET on 21 May 2018. Also, two separate applications for ECCs were submitted to the two relevant competent authorities, respectively relating to the Biomass Power Project. The other application relates to the fuel supply activities, including the harvesting, processing and logistics of encroacher bush or wood chips. A single detailed EIA Report has been compiled covering all consolidated activities related to the complete Otjikoto Biomass Power Project. However, due to the fact that two separate applications for ECCs were submitted to the above mentioned competent authorities, two separate Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) have been developed. Please refer to the attached background information document for further information.
