Varanus albigularis occurs throughout the dry savanna areas of Namibia, particularly in the country's central, northern and eastern regions. Field studies by Alberts and Phillips in the early 1990s in the Etosha National Park in Northern Namibia have shown that male V. albigularis occupy large home ranges of about 18 km2.
