Abstract:

The application for Amendment to the Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) granted on the 5th December 2019 is to reflect the Proposed Shopping Mall Rezoning and Closure of the Public Open Space for the Proposed Windhoek Waterfront Development, Windhoek, Khomas Region Central Namibia. The amended ECC is required for proposed development of the Windhoek Waterfront Project , along Goreangab Dam and a mix use development including the shopping mall rezoning and closure of the public open town planning and design, preconstruction, construction, operation / commissioning stages. The proposed project development covers the planning and design, preconstruction, construction, operation, and monitoring stages. The town planning and rezoning process as well as the activities of the planning and design, preconstruction and construction activities have already been implemented. The construction process will involve the following multiples Phase 1 to 3: Phase 1: 2019 - 2021 covering 150 standalone houses, 29 sectional title houses, 5 general residential plots, 6 business mixed-use plots and 2 public open spaces. Phase 2: 2020 - 2021: 58 standalone houses, 6 general residential plots, 7 business mixed-use plots, 2 public open spaces, and 1 institutional plot, and. Phase 3: 2021 - 2023: 10 standalone houses, 13 general residential plots, 5 business mixed-use plots, 1 municipal plot and 1 institutional plot. Following the completion of the construction activities that will be undertaken as part of the phased development process of the Windhoek Waterfront project, the following is the summary of the separate Phases 1 - 3 that will be implemented: Completion and commissioning; Operational; Monitoring and maintenance, and future extensions and infrastructure upgrades.
