The results of the assessment of the environmental hazard potential of the abandoned copper mines Klein Aub, Oamites, Matchless, Khan and Onguati and the lead/zinc mine Namib Lead, located in Central Namibia, are presented. The methodology applied comprisedrngeochemical and geotechnical investigations. Mitigation and rehabilitation options for the mine sites are proposed.
