Abstract:

An amendment of the Gondwana Etosha King Nehale Lodge Environmental Management Plan (ENP) to include a hide at the Kameeldoring Water Hole, Etosha National Park, Namibia. Environmental Compliance Consultancy (ECC) has been engaged by Gondwana Collection Namibia (Pty) Ltd the proponent to act on their behalf for the EMP amendment of the environmental clearance certificate application, which was granted and issued 24th April 2019, for the development of the Gondwana Etosha King Nehale Lodge in the Oshikoto Region, Namibia. The objective of the amendment application is to include the proposed construction of a hide at the Kameeldoring water hole in Etosha National Park. In accordance with Section 39 of the Environmental Management Act (EMA), No. 7 of 2007, ECC has determined that MET is the Competent Authority for the proposed project. The development of a hide at the Kameeldoring water hole for Gondwana Etosha King Nehale Lodge will attract more tourists to the region thereby presenting opportunities for socio-economic development in the region. The need to expand the tourism sector and ensure sustainability in the sector.
