Title:

Eskom-EWT Strategic Partnership

Abstract:

This innovative Partnership was started in 1996 in order to manage interactions between wildlife and Eskom's infrastructure throughout SA. Conservationists at EWT first started realising that various wildlife (in particular vultures) were being killed on Eskom infrastructure during the 1970's and 80's. Eskom & EWT worked together informally to address these problems on an ad hoc basis until the 90's, when the strategic Partnership between Eskom & EWT was formalised. Due to its collaborative approach, and the allocation of a full time project manager, this Partnership soon became a world leader in the field of bird interactions with electricity.
