Structural Development of the Ugab Structural Domain of the Northern Zone of the Damara Orogen
Structural investigations in the Northern Zone of the Damara Orogen, south of the Kamanjab Inlier, lead to the conclusion that older N-S trending folds were overprinted by SSE-NNW shortening. The area subjected to this early Damara deformation - possibly older than 600 Ma - is called the Ugab Structural Domain. The younger overprint is related to the main phase of deformation of the NE-SW trending intracontinental branch of the Damara Orogen.
