The paper summarizes the knowledge on the species of the insect family Rhopalidae of the afrotropical region with special consideration of the Namibian fauna. From the afrotropical region including Madagascar 44 species of this family are known, 14 species are distributed in Namibia, three of which are new for the Namibian fauna. The food plants of the Rhopalidae are listed as far as these are known. A key to all genera of the afrotropical Rhopalidae is presented.
