The proposed construction and operation of a new Omburu-Omaruru 44kV overhead line (OHL) re-route which will be approximately 10 km from Omburu NamPower Station to Omaruru Intake Station for approximately 10 km located within Omaruru townlands. Scrap Salvage (Pty) Ltd existing scrap metals recycling and salvage operational activities entails listed activity 2.3 and activity 9.1 of the EMA regulations namely: Activity 2.3: The import, processing, use and recycling, temporary storage, transit or export of waste activities. Activity 9.1: The manufacturing, storage, handling or processing of a hazardous substance defined in the Hazardous Substances Ordinance, 1974. Scrap Salvage (Pty) Ltd makes use of the flame cutting process which falls under activity 9.1.
It relates to the sale of Elizabeth Bay mine, which sale includes the transfer of the environmental clearance certificate in respect of Mining License (ML 128A) from Namdeb to the purchaser.
