Based largely on information collected during the 1991 Population and Housing Census conducted by the Central

Statistics Office. Languages were grouped as follows: Caprivian (Totela, Subiya, Fwe and Siyeyi), San (Kung, Hei//om,

 

 

Kxoe), Kavango (Gciriku - also called Rumanyo, Shambyu, Kwangali, Mbunza, Thimbukushu), Oshiwambo (Ndonga,

 

 

Kwanyama, Kwambi, Eunda, Mbandja, Mbalantu, Ngandgera, Kwaluudhi, Kolonkadhi, and Others (Afrikaans, German,

 

 

English, Portuguese and other languages).

 

 

 

 

 

The data are expressed as percentages and the file is in the following format: District, language1(rural), language

 

2 (rural) etc., language 1 (urban), language 2 (urban) etc.
