endemism
Notes on data, analysis and Mike Griffin provided sketch maps showing the distribution of each species, based on all records available to him and his
compilation: knowledge of habitat preferences. These were synthesised to generate estimated numbers of species per quarter degree

(approx 27 x 27 km). A grid file (at 5km cell size) was created from point data (i.e.centroids of QDS) using a kriging

interpolator. The shapefile was created from the grid file once suitable class intervals were identified. 66 species of

reptiles are considered to be endemic to Namibia (with 75% or more of their range in Namibia).
