Humidity data are available for the hours 0800, 1400 and 2000. Maximum daily relative humidity occurs around dawn or |

shortly afterwards, but certainly before 0800. Similarly, minimum relative humidity generally occurs rather later than |

1400. The map therefore does not depict the actual maximum relative humidities which actually occur (these are rather |
|
more extreme - higher maximum), but give an indication of spatial spread and time of the year of the maximum. |
|
The polygons making up the shapefile were created from hand drawn contours on a hard copy map. This manual |
|
interpolation approach was done by Peter Hutchinson using point data from all available stations (42). Because the |
|
number of stations was small an automatic interpolation produced nonsense results. For source data see Fig 3.17 |
