Notes on data, analysis and

Humidity data are available for the hours 0800, 1400 and 2000. Maximum daily relative humidity occurs around dawn or

shortly afterwards, but certainly before 0800. Similarly, minimum relative humidity generally occurs rather later than

 

 

1400. The map therefore does not depict the actual maximum relative humidities which actually occur (these are rather

 

 

more extreme - higher maximum), but give an indication of spatial spread and time of the year of the maximum.

 

 

The polygons making up the shapefile were created from hand drawn contours on a hard copy map. This manual

 

 

interpolation approach was done by Peter Hutchinson using point data from all available stations (42). Because the

 

 

number of stations was small an automatic interpolation produced nonsense results. For source data see Fig 3.17
