Notes on data, analysis and

Averages of the maximum temperature recorded each day for each month. For each station, the month with the highest

 

compilation:

recorded average was used. These data were obtained from the Namibia Meteorological Services and other sources

 

 

(agro-ecological zone data; FAO ClimWAT- see excel file Fig 3.13). The polygons making up the shapefile were created

 

 

from hand drawn contours on a hard copy map. This manual interpolation approach was done by Peter Hutchinson

 

 

using point data from all available stations (over 40). Because the number of stations was small an automatic interpolation produced

 

 

nonsense results.
