Notes on data, analysis and

Mike Griffin provided sketch maps showing the distribution of each species, based on all records available to him and his

compilation:

knowledge of habitat preferences. These were synthesised to generate estimated numbers of species per quarter degree

(approx 27 x 27 km). A grid file (at 5km cell size) was created from point data (i.e.centroids of QDS) using a kriging

interpolator. The shapefile was created from the grid file once suitable class intervals were identified.

Data quality and organisation

Positional Accuracy:

Original data collected at quarter degree square (approx 27 x 27 km) resolution, however much of the data are predicted
