Title:
240907004672: Application for Environmental Clearance Certificate for the Solar Energy Facility at Arandis Townlands, Erongo Region, Namibia
Publication Year:
2024
Abstract:

The Solar Facility within the Net Zero Industrial Park, the Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) application is essential for: 1. Establishing a 1GW solar farm as part of the broader project’s clean energy initiative, which aims to produce renewable energy that will support the operations of the park, including hydrogen production and other facilities. 2. Ensuring the sustainable generation of solar power, which will contribute to reducing carbon emissions and support Namibia's green energy transition. 3. Assessing potential environmental impacts, such as land use changes, visual impacts, and any effects on local wildlife and ecosystems. The ECC will ensure that these impacts are properly evaluated and mitigated. This solar farm will play a pivotal role in achieving the overall goal of reducing carbon emissions and transitioning to renewable energy in Namibia, aligning with the country's sustainability and climate goals.
