Abstract:

The ECC is for the operation and maintenance of an existing 66kv Rehoboth - Blumfelde transmission line including Blumfelde, Rehoboth Substations and other associated infrastructures. Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "energy distribution, transmission and generation" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. In 2020, NamPower obtained the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the maintenance and operation of the 66kV Rehoboth - Blumfelde transmission line. NamPower would therefore like to apply for the renewal of the ECC for 66kV Rehoboth– Blumfelde powerline in order to comply with the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations. This application also includes Rehoboth, Blumfelde Substations and other associated Infrastructures that were not previously included.
